Great Ocean Road Adventures

This leg of the journey has been full of some of the most spectacular scenery yet. We headed from Melbourne around the bay to Geelong and stayed in the Bellarine area. Then it was on to Angelsea and the beginning of the Great Ocean Road. We took weeks to meander slowly along this stretch, taking thousands of photos and feeling blessed we live in the most beautiful country in the world! We were rewarded with some incredible Kodak moments as we explored every dirt track we could find and hiked along many paths searching for all those untouched little inlets and bays.

Our next stop is Adelaide and then Port Augusta. After that we are heading up to Coober Pedy and in to the red centre. Warmer weather here we come!!

Watching the ferry come back from Sorrento (any excuse to play in the sand!).

The iconic Queenscliff pier.

Hey Grandpa, was this the size of the propeller on your ships?
Look what we made for Mother's Day breakfast in bed!

Ooooh you made me a handbag!!

Lily with her special card.

All dressed up for dinner out at Ocean Grove.

We made it to the Great Ocean Road!

My surfer boy gets back to his roots at Bells Beach.

Hey Lily, did you know this beach is famous?

Check out how many surfers are still out at sunset (we stopped counting at 60).

The sun sets over the beautiful Jan Juc beach.

Posing at the Great Ocean Road arch.
The memorial arch pays homage to the diggers who hand-carved this incredible road.

Lorne beach gives us a taste of the scenery to come.

Crickey Lily, that wooden shark is going for your head!

Lily loved the sculptures in the Anglesea play park by the river.

This was a full rainbow that seemed to touch down right in front of us, woah!

Pausing the carni big-rig to answer nature's call.

The view from the Apollo Bay lookout was amazing.

The (slightly underwhelming) Hopkins Falls.
Mummy attempting to send a golf ball through ridiculously hard props at Port Fairy Mini Golf.

We saw our first whale at Portland. I know it doesn't look like much,
but it was splashing and having a, well, whale of a time.

Two Australian fur seals play around the boats in Portland harbour.

Getting ready to catch the historic Portland tram (see it coming in the background).

We were the only ones on the tram.
We sat right at the front and had a VIP tour guide experience!

Next stop was lovely Robe on the coast of SA. Yay - beach again!

The girls meet Fireman Koala, who was a part of the RFS display
for the June long weekend.
